These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Tamang Society of Canada website and membership services operated by Tamang Society of Canada (“TSC”), a federally incorporated non-profit organization (Corp. No. 1138377-9) under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act. By accessing our website or applying for membership, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using this website or submitting a membership application, you confirm that you are at least 16 years of age, have read and understood these Terms, and agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.
2. Membership Eligibility and Application
Membership in the Tamang Society of Canada is open to individuals of Tamang heritage, their family members, and persons who support the mission of the Society. By submitting a membership application, you agree that:
- All information provided in your application is accurate, complete, and truthful
- You are at least 16 years of age
- You will promptly notify us of any changes to your personal information
- Membership is subject to approval by the Society’s executive committee
- Membership fees are non-refundable once the membership has been activated
3. Membership Fees and Payment
Membership fees are as follows:
- General Membership: CAD $25 per year
- Lifetime Membership: CAD $100 (one-time, non-refundable)
Payments are processed securely through our third-party payment provider. By providing payment information, you authorize TSC to charge the applicable membership fee. All fees are in Canadian dollars and include applicable taxes where required.
4. Member Responsibilities and Code of Conduct
As a member or website user, you agree to:
- Treat all members and staff with dignity and respect
- Not engage in harassment, discrimination, or conduct contrary to the Canadian Human Rights Act or the Ontario Human Rights Code
- Not use our website or services for any unlawful purpose
- Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or member data
- Not upload or transmit harmful, offensive, defamatory, or fraudulent content
- Keep your account credentials confidential and notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
The Society reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership for conduct that violates these Terms or the Society’s bylaws.
5. Member Portal and Account Security
Upon approval of your membership application, you will be granted access to a Member Portal account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You agree to change your initial password upon first login. TSC will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized use of your account.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on this website, including text, images, logos, graphics, audio, and video, is the property of the Tamang Society of Canada or its content providers and is protected by Canadian copyright law. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works without prior written permission from TSC. Content shared by members (e.g., event photos) remains the intellectual property of the original creator; by uploading content to our website, you grant TSC a non-exclusive licence to use that content for Society purposes.
7. Third-Party Links and Services
Our website may contain links to third-party websites or use third-party services (such as payment processors, social media platforms, and analytics providers). TSC is not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party services. We encourage you to review the terms and privacy policies of any third-party services you use.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TSC, its officers, directors, volunteers, and employees shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of, or inability to use, our website or services. TSC’s total liability for any claim related to these Terms shall not exceed the amount of membership fees paid by you in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada. We encourage members to first contact us directly to resolve any concerns before initiating formal proceedings.
11. Termination
TSC reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access to our website or membership services at any time, with or without cause, including for violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Member Portal will cease immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall remain in effect.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or organizational policies. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated accordingly. Continued use of our website or membership services following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We recommend reviewing these Terms periodically.
